yea i know you wouldnt think a half inch of even a inch would make that much difference when i was praticeing with my 7 iron at the pro shop i had it done at i hit about 30 balls and about 25 of them were ina nice group about 175 yards and right in the middle in a circle about 5 yards big

This is encouraging

I'm 6'4" as well and have been having some trouble with irons.

Glad to hear the lengthening helps.

This is encouraging

i allways knew i needed longer clubs but i allways thought it would cost alot to have them lengthened but surprised it was only 5 dollars a club and with paying 300 for my new irons what was another 40 dollars for the right length clubs

Wow this is so encouraging. Can you notice a difference in sound/feel/contact now that they're lengethed. Can you notice any differences?

I'm getting new clubs soon and I'm considering getting them lengthened because I'm at least 6' 2" in golf shoes and I feel like I have to bend over more than other people, so I wanted to get them lengthened.

yes i can feel and hear the difference i am a bigger guy and taller guy so the guy said i should have them longer cause being a bigger guy its hard to keep your back and shoulders alined as you swing and with longer clubs its easyer and you can allways choke down on the club if needed.

So being taller will make you hit left or right with standard clubs?? Im probably 6'3 in golf shoes and I'm playing standard length clubs. Could that be a reason for pulling a lot of my iron shots?

Were you pulling your shots before you got them lengthened? Where did you get it done at?

I'm pretty tall and my club fitter told me that my clubs being too short would lead to a push because the club is toe down at address. He explained my pulls as being caused when I got the club face perpendicular at impact to my over the top swing plane.

I have had properly fitted irons for the past few weeks and while I can still pull, hook and slice with great regularity (doh! ) I haven't seen any pushes so he could be onto something.

Thanks Hack, glad your not pushing anymore. Thats good to know though, because I never push. Mishits are ALWAYS pulls....

Thanks for the insight.

Is it true that taller people always need longer clubs? I thought a lot of it had to do with your arm length. I'm using a standard length set right now (new ones should be here tomorrow!) and I push as my miss. I figured I wasn't releasing my hands. My new clubs have longer shafts though and I've been told I should get shafts that are a bit longer by observers.

In general I hit the ball very well, but tend to push. I hope these new clubs solve that! I've used my cousins clubs which are a bit longer and they do feel better. But then, my current clubs are from the early 90's and not fitted for me at all.

I think the most important measurement is wrist to floor for determining the right length. I'm 6'7", 39" WTF and I think he built me clubs to 1.5" over standard and maybe a couple of degrees upright on the lie - after a dynamic fitting. Good luck with the new set!
