What's the best way to warm up before a game? What muscles are the most important?

I see people placing the club behind their neck, resting on their shoulders and turning - I try it but it doesn't seem to do anything for me at all. Is that supposed to stretch any muscles? I don't get it.

I do a 30-minute yoga-routine focusing on the big muscles in my back and thighs before leaving the house.

My Aerolite bag contains:

VR Tour Driver Project X 5.5
904F 17* 4-wood Sabre Stiff
MP68 3-PW Project X 6.0
52* Vokey Spin Milled -wedge

Redwood ZB

I prefer a ball, but may occasionally hit almost anything.

stretching multiple times a day will help you in your future rounds. it's not just warming up 30 minutes before a round, it's keeping your body limber all the time that's important. I can't stress enough how important flexibility and being limber is to not only your golf swing, but your overall health.

Stretch every muscle in the body starting with the thigh, hams, and calves. Next, move to the chest, back, shoulders, and arms. You can find targeted stretches online at http://surfinghealth.com/img/allimg/080419/2154350.jpg .

One sees this a lot. Perhaps it's supposed to ensure sufficient shoulder and hip turn. However, instead of a few ripping motion a few minutes before you start, proper stretching and exercise should bring about better results.

I slightly pulled my left lat a few weeks ago because I didn't stretch enough. Stretching and flexibility is very important, not only for your round, but your golf career.

One tidbit of wisdom that I've gained over the years is you'll find out after your round which muscles you didn't stretch properly before your round.

One area that I really try to focus on is my wrists. I'll hold my 2 longest irons out in front of me, upright and wave them slowly left and right, increasing the angle, moving only my wrist.

I like to also swing the two irons together slowly/smoothly for a few minutes.

We could have all taken lessons from watching Tom Watson's pre-round stretches in this year's British Open. That fella is super elastic!!!
