was playing a round of 18 today and my head goes flying around 8th hole.... drive was short and went around 230, and I look down and I didn't see my clubhead... No clue why this happened, contacted PING and they are gonna give me a new head and shaft soon as this one gets to their shop.

long day >< time for the next 2-3 weeks to be closely acquainted with the 3 wood.

That bites.

Hope they speed the process up.

It would have been nice if they could have just sent you into your local PING dealer and swapped out driver for you.....assuming of course, that they had one in your specs.

On the brighter side.....you may see your fairways hit % go up for the next couple of weeks.

In the future, don't hit the ball so hard! Eat fewer power bars before you play!

Just kidding. Hope your replacement driver comes in OK. And, you'll get a chance to see what all your 3-wood can do.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

when I first started playing golf, I went to the local pro shop picked up a new ping driver to try it out and on the first swing hit the ball right on the shaft and the club head went flying ooops

The pro shop said it happens don't worry about it , I have spent several thousand of dollars their ever since.

In earlier days, I had expected this to happen on my DIY designs - until I had a clubmaker try to pull a Vector 320 off a UST 65...

"Who put this head on here?"

With eyes downcast, I responded: "I did!"

"Well by now it would have popped off, especially with a hydraulic puller -- hey! there it goes!"

So then I didn't feel so bad...

The OEM's (not so sure about PING) tend to use carefully selected amounts of epoxy to precisely fill the voids in the head, hosel & ferrule during their automated assembly processes in order to eliminate manual touch up during QA. I however believe in thorough over-kill in this step - and probably overdo the epoxy application when I build my own...

But then again, I run the risk of burning the paint if overheating of the hosel is needed to free the friggin' head if I want to try a different shaft down the road.

Oh well, the up side is I haven't had a loose (or lost) head yet!

At least you were able to recover your driver head. I lost the head on my Adams Insight a3 last month right into a hazard and couldn't get it back.
