Anybody out there tried it to improve their game?

Nope. Wouldn't ever, either.

Many of the visualation and relaxation techniques taught to golfers actually rely on the same technques as self hypnosis. Research indicates that what athletes refer to as being in the zone, is actually an altered state. This means a low level hypnotic state. Not as deep as what a therapist would seek.

I went to hypnosis class to try to quit smoking about 10 years ago. Very effective, I didn't light up until I got all the way back out to my car. I finally quit when I decided to, about 18 months ago, so I don't have much faith in this hypnosis thing...

I've been trying to improve my game for almost 50 years and it's like climbing a ladder with no rungs or becoming a good brain surgeon!

Golf is not a game, it's a way of life!

Hey Rembrandt: I hope my brain surgeon doesn't take 50 years to figure out his skill! And, how is a ladder with no rungs being held together? Are you into Zen or something? Did you know there is such a thing as Zen Golf.? What is the sound of one hand clapping? Or how about, somewhere, someplace on Earth, there is always a golf ball suspended in the air every second of every day. Deep, real deep.

I'm practice clinical hypnotherapy and have worked with a number of golf clients, as well as some self-work to improve my game. A lot of what I run through is visualisation, but what's really interesting is that in a couple of 'cases' there were actually unconscious barriers to performing well. It led me to putting together an MP3 audio hypnotherapy session which looks at exactly that. I've had some interesting feedback from people, mainly to do with the in-state guided visualisation parts.

After 30 plus years , hypnosis is what finally got me off of cigarettes. It has been 7 years now. I have no trouble paying $500 for my edel putter when I consider it is only 10 cartons of cigarettes. :)

That's a really good point. I'm into hypnotherapy and NLP and I could not have summed it up better. Here is a video of Tiger talking about the altered state and THE ZONE. You guys might find it interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjZE4sOzvco Let me know what you think :D
