Any suggestions/recommendations of the best place to chip/putt and hit a range? trying to stay close to Melrose and want a great place to practice. I currently belong to Mount Hood but their practice area is subpar with no range.

I don't think that there's anyplace real close to Melrose, but try Golf Country in either Middleton or Saugus, or Sun'n air golf in Danvers.

Stone Meadow in Lexington has grass tees and a green. Hill View CC in North Reading has a nice practice green and a drving range with decent mats. Maybe 20 minutes from Melrose. Middleton (above) has grass tees.
