My goal for the summer is to be playing in the mid to high 80s. I know I have what it takes and I put in the time it takes to get there. I played a pretty tough course today (71.3/126) and shot extremely well with my irons and chipping was decent, not great though. Anyhow, I shot a 96, which should have really been in the 80s. I hit 6 GIR, 6 3-putts, and fell apart with a tripple on the 18th freakn hole when my drive was in the fairway.

With that said, you guys know where my work has to be done in a major way. PUTTING!!!

I'll get it though!!!

I'll get there soon enough.... Tackling the course again in the morning.

I know how you feel. A few shots, 1 or two puts and you're down 10 strokes. So close, yet so far.

That is basically my goal as well. My "dream" goal is to break 80, but as yet I have yet to convince myself that it's realistic. I think a real goal for this year is to get playing to the low to mid 80's most rounds. I watched Phil's short game DVD, and have started putting some of it into to practice. When I concentrate, it works!

Myself being in the same boat, let me share my latest experience. I have had two rounds of 40 putts and ended up scoring 90, thats a very reachable mid 80's score. Issue for my has been 3 putts, many of which are missing short putts by an inch or two.

My mistake has been making tentative strokes for the short putts. Take the right backswing and a firm and non-decelerating forward stroke. This eliminates doubts and pull/pushes of the short 2-3 footers.

Try this out, hopefully it helps you too.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Dang it, did it again yesterday!! Went out and played the other 18 at the same clube and shot a 96 with 6 3-putts. Anyhow, it got better as the day went on. I started my first 2 holes with a 7 & 8. Shot a 53 on the first 9 with 5 3-putts. Recovered on the last 9 with a 43 and 1 3-putt. I even had an eagle putt on hole 18 (par 5), missed it, but walked away with the birdie.

If I just straighten out the front 9, I would have been in good shape. My irons are great right now.... It's those gosh darn putts!!
