Can someone help. I have even taken a listen on base with a golf pro. Just need some advice!

What are the yippies?

Get back to the basics. Work on a narrow stance drill with a half swing, and be sure that the back of your left hand is leading through impact. Follow through these shots to a full finish. Get the sensation for solid impact with your weight forward before goofing around with larger swings, weight shifts, etc...

If your shanking them, make sure you are not close to the ball.. Taylormade burners are longer clubs by half an inch, take that into account, if you were playing your older clubs and constantly hit it near the hozel but still on the clubface that half an inch might bring the hozel into play.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

My shanks were caused by my leaning back away from the ball at impact ... open face, clubhead now shifted too close to the ball, shanker-rooney ... just make sure you're sliding forward and finishing down the line.
I make all my own clubs:

I think i might be done with the shanks!!!! My left arm was collapsing after impact and i was closing the club face way to soon instead of letting it close naturally. I am gonna work on that for awhile and i will drop another line

You may also be super hyped with the new sticks are over swinging due to excitement (ie your left arm collapsing as you said). Relax, take your time and focus on hitting it pure by shifting your weight to your left side.

Shanks are not actually caused by standing too close to the ball. In some cases, standing further can accentuate the problem.

Shanks happen when lose balance and you fall into the ball slightly in the swing. Standing farther away can actually encourage this further. Here is a link that might help: http://www.golf.com/golf/instruction...565304,00.html

i read the article and that sound like my case. i got rid of them but i still have that slight over the top. I have been using the David leadbetter dvd set and it seems to be working. I can evaluate my swing with his program that he provided, and i am coming over slightly and a bit of chicken winging every now and then. I do tend to go after the ball a little bit with full force, and thats another problem i have. Damn i am all jacked up!!!!!

While thats true you can't really say standing too close isn't a cause. Standing too close with an in to out swing is shank city.

Shanks can also be caused when your head moves and gets ahead of the ball before impact.
