Small Problem with Wedges

Lately the distance control on my wedges particularly PW, SW have been dialed in pretty good. I am having a problem leaving everything to the left? I feel as though I am aimed correctly and my divot looks about normal, but leaving everything left. Any suggestions?

Re: Small Problem with Wedges

To me, this is an easy one, because I've been through it several times. It's always the same answer - I'm using all arms in my swing, and forget to turn the shoulders. This is easy to understand when you think of it: you're trying to finesse the shot, and in the process it's easy to forget to turn. This problem also occurs in short pitches and chips for the same reason. It's easy to know you have to turn during a full swing, because it's natural. But the shorter shots are more delicate and you can pull them off with arms only. But don't do it, because the ball will go to the left. Good luck.

Re: Small Problem with Wedges

Because they have so much loft, wedges don't impart as much sidespin as your other irons. Do you normally slice your longer irons? If so, you probably are pulling your wedges, they just aren't fading to the right. Either that, or your alignment is off.

Are you leading with the back of your left hand?

I sometimes have that issue, step back, then swing making sure I am leading with the back of my hand.

Re: Small Problem with Wedges

Thanks to those that have responded. I think the problem was answered best by dreamsmith and harmonious. I checked my alignment and my natural ball flight is a slight draw. However, like harmonious said the wedges don't have as much sidespin and I don't draw anything unless I really try from my 9i through wedges. The problem I think was not turning enough and allowing my left shoulder to get around a little quicker than normal making me come over the top a smidge and pulling the ball. I went to the range this evening and was hitting it right at the pins and hit several with my wedges so I think I got it. We'll find out Friday.
