I currently own a 56*/14* SV Tour Satin Wedge. It is currently my highest lofted club and works fine for me. Just have a quick question, should I even considering buying a 60* (or something like that) or would not make that much of a difference in my game to buy another wedge.

Depends on the 56 - if you can open it up and hit a flop(ish) shot without blading the ball, you probably can forego the 60.

I have a 56 and a 60 and I can't say I use the 60 TOO often but it definitely comes handy. Most of my flopshots I use a 60*.

I also have a 52 that never gets play so I don't even take it around anymore.

I say a 60 isn't a MUST but a nice to have.

IT really depends on your approach to wedges. I use a 4 wedge set....45* P, 50* G, 56-10 S, & 60-04 L...this combination gives me control over all distances inside 120 yards. Couple this with the idea of four back swings per wedge (7:30, 9:00, 10:30, full), gives me enough versatility. I like that my 60* has a low bounce (04*) which allows me to really open up for flop shots. With said....60* are tough to hit....they really get tricky, but if spend some time playing with it can become your next best friend. I use mine quite a bit.... I always put it to play when I'm laying on the fringe of the green, for a nice bump and run.
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

Yeah but with a 14* bounce, that is not a likely scenario....

I didnt pick up a 60 until I was a 12-13 HI. I wanted to work on ball striking and trying different shots with the 56. I use the 60 from 70 and in right now. I love the spin it puts on my ball when I am chipping.

My highest lofted club is a *54 SW, and if that isn't bad enough it's part of my iron set!
I don't miss the flat bladed spatulas.
I am more of a bump and run kind of player though.

I think many amateurs throw a 60 in their bag without really needing it, sometimes as a crutch for learning to hit other wedges properly. If your 56/14 doesn't allow you to hit the type of shots you need, it may be worthwhile.

Depends on the grind a bit too, but yeah, 14 is up there.

Yea, to me my 56* works ok for flops shots (75-%80% success), (25%-20% bladed). But I don't use a flop to often in competition. In fact, I don't think I've used it at all in a serious tourney round. I see that it may be a good thing to have in certain situations, but I think the 56* works out just fine for my game...as of now.

not unless it's in the right hands...mine.

anyways, I can hit an full flop pretty good most of the time (15 or 20 yds or so on a good one), but like i said in my previous post, I don't usually use the flop in competition, unless up just behind a greenside bunker and the pin is on the fringe, which doesn't happen too often

I used to have a 60 but it became pointless to me. Anything inside of 70 yards I just use my 56*/14 bounce. It's just easier to open the face and feel the shot then to bounce between a the 56 and 60.

How close to the pin are your 80 yard and in shots?

If you stick them close, real close, then you can do without it. Otherwise it might help you score better to have one.

Really? damn. I acnt get more than 40 yards out of my 60.. its a 62 actually.. Had a 60 and no more than 40 MAYBE 50 with wind at my back.

Unless you are quite skilled, I virtually guarantee that a 60 degree wedge will cost you more strokes than it saves you.

I agree with this statement. Using a 60* wedge requires a ton of finesse, I know it has cost be strokes over other shot choices.

I find myself using the 60 wedge alot, when I have to carry over a bunker to the short side of the green(there is too many bunkers on my course). Opening a 56 wedge is just too risky for the shot.

ok, i usually prefer a little punchy type shot either with my 56* or gap. on average i'd say 15-20 ft. 30 i would consider bad. but sometimes I stick em inside of 10'
