Nice Course Near Roselle, IL

Hey, I'm shopping for a gift and want to get someone a few rounds of golf near their home.

What are some nice courses near Roselle, IL?

In my Ogio Cart Bag
Driver: 460 10.5 R7
4- S Wedge: R7 CGB Max
Putter: Afinity Cheapo Putter
Balls: I generally use them

Depends on what you're looking to spend.

Schaumburg Golf Course is only one town away from Roselle and is my home course. It's real nice. It's not a top 100 course, but is always in great condition and the greens are fantastic...far better than other muni's in the area.

The top courses in the area are:

Pine Meadow

Cantigny

Prairie Landing (Links)

Highlands of Elgin

Bowes Creek

Chalet Hills

Blackstone (A little further west, but great course)

A little further south:

Cog Hill #2 & 4 (Dubs Dread the course they play the BMW Championship on)

Harbourside (2 Links style courses)

Ruffled Feathers (Pete Dye design)

The ones in red are all courses that I have played and would consider in the upper echelon of Chicago area public courses.  The ones in blue would still be very nice, but 2nd tier to the others.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I've played quite a few of the muni's in the area as well.

If your friend has never been to Cantigny, maybe he can make time afterwards to see the 1st Division Museum, as well as the flower gardens, and McCormack Mansion. In the museum, there's one section where you're viewing a wall display, and suddenly you're in Normandy.  It's amazing. Those attractions are on the other side of the property.

I played it once, but it's out of my budget. Also have played Schaumburg.  It's very well kept. Rangers were very proactive but friendly  and pace was no problem. Cantigny makes for a good gift.

      Day 35, June 8. Before leaving for work this morning (yes, I'm posting this quite late relative to the practice), I spent 15 minutes practicing at home, into a net.  This time, it was primarily 9-iron (full swings), with some UW (full and half) and a few 6-iron.

      I'm liking this. Finally getting down hands in front of my trail leg pocket consistently at A6 with much better clubhead position (relatively not as tipped out). I can really pressure the shaft through impact with good face control  from this position and stay in balance. Won my first one v one march 5&4 against a 4 hcp who routinely drives it 35-40 yards past me in the men's club match play . Frustrated him with some solid iron play and air tight putting.

      Day 279 6-8  Worked on low point control skills work tonight. will be doing this for a few weeks. Tonight was just trying figure out how to get low point forward.  No ball.

      Day 8 (Jun 8 26) - Stayed the drill but added two additional irons (7i, 8i and 9i) - using Divot Board and hard foam balls - focused on tempo and purposed pause at the top….noticing how open the club is marking the board when I try to kill it and how much more square (and better distance) when I focus on these keys.
