New Blades or Old Blades?

Im in the market for clubs and i have been playing with hogan medallion clubs, im looking for a blade set but not sure which to choose. I have a set of old Jack Nicklaus Heritage Blades and that will save me money all i have to do is change the shafts and grips but should i do that or just go out and buy a new set? Is technology that advanced now to change the blades?

IMO there is a very big difference. Modern blades are easier to hit than the old blades; the MP 68's being the best, again IMO. That doesn't mean they will cover up a bad swing, you just don't get punished as much with a mis hit. I'd suggest a combo set; cb's 3-6 or 7 and mb's for the rest.

I'd keep the old clubs b/c they are fun to play once in awhile. I have a old set of Wilson Staff Tour blades from 1978, 1-pw that I'll put out and play, when I'm play'n well. Really makes me appreciate the new stuff.

I would agree, manufactoring process have improved making the newer clubs better and lofts are different today than they were in 20+ years ago.  I too have a set of Wilson FG-51's that I will play from time to time, but the lofts are very different than my MP-68's so getting yardage is a bit tricky.

The 51's have a 46* 9i and a 50* PW, while the 68's have a 43* 9i and a 47* PW.

newer blades imo from what I've tested & used seem easier to hit and sting a lot less than the older blades.  The 68's truly are a BUTTER club. From the 3 rounds that I've used them, I've noticed that the sting when mishitting a 3 iron isn't as great as let's say the mp-32 (still to me the prettiest club ever made).

but then again, it's preference.

I test drove the nike pro combo set a few weeks back, and I absolutely loved them (never thought I'd say that).

Modern blades are not the same as old blades.  Id suggest trying out a set before you convince yourself that an old pair of blades is the same as a new pair.
