The demise of my 5 iron...

Snow finally cleared up enough in the back yard to hit golf balls again. It was a little muddy so i had to hit off a tee no big deal. I go to hit my 5 iron. The 3rd shot i make good contact and SNAP. I look up and all i got left is the shaft. I looked down to make sure i didnt make contact with the ground or anything. No contact with the ground... I couldn't believe it. Never found the end of it either. Sadly i knew i needed a new set but didn't know this early.

whatever story you need to tell the wife to justify new clubs is fine by me.

OK, we're here to help.    You've taken care of the first part which is to snap a club in two by just swinging it (wink wink nudge nudge).

The next step is to explain to your wife that metal fatigue happens in things that go through flexing.   You can illustrate your point by reminding her of that Aloha Airlines flight in 1988 where part of the skin ripped off in flight (and amazingly was able to land safely).    That will reinforce that this is a real world problem with potentially disastrous circumstances.    Then you need to get a copy of the CSI episode where the golfer dies when his club snaps and cuts his jugular.

Combining these all together, she'll be rushing you out to buy new clubs so fast you won't even be able to get your shoes on!
