Does anyone know why the pro am's don't get shown regularly? I doubt I am the only one that likes to see the celebrities and pro athletes playing with the PGA tour golfers. It just seems like a lot of people would watch if they would show it.

Most tournaments have pro-ams in Wednesdays, but they aren't pro-ams in the sense of Pebble Beach or the Bob Hope. It's mostly rich corporate guys hacking it around, not so much celebrities.

I know there was at least some celebs and pros playing today in the pro am. I watch Mike and Mike in the morning everyday and Greenie had on Emmit Smith whom he was going to be playing with as well as Fred Couples. It just seems like these are the types of things they should show, at least in parts, to help show different sides of the tour. I would also like to see more regular character development of the everyday pros. You see some on inside the PGA tour show but it is not enough.

You're right, Mike and Mike did play today. I could be wrong, but I just don't think there are enough big names at each event to get T.V. coverage, even on Golf Channel.

It would be interesting to know what it would take to make it happen. It also made me think of the celebrity tour. It would also be cool to be able to see some of the events they play. I understand it wouldn't be able to be all the time but it would be nice to see sometimes, kind of like when they show some amateur tournaments.

Golf Channel is always showing re runs of everything and it seems like somethings could fill up better space.

I'm not too sure ProAms, even with celebrities, would be that great a draw on TV.  I don't find the Hope and Pebble coverage interesting enough to watch; I cannot imagine a lower level tourney being very interesting at all.  I've played in a few ProAms and the golf was never that compelling.  Frankly, just playing a round of golf with a tour pro was always more fun. Other than maybe half a dozen pros one might name, doing a ProAm is just not all that appealing.  For the most part, ProAms are simply an additional way to help cover the expenses of a tour event, so they are (to an extent) a needed nuisance. I am glad there are people who want to play in them and will support our sport, but playing ProAms grows old quickly.  Go to the practice range and watch the warm-ups and you will see a lot more action.

Most ProAms are painful to watch as most of the Ams are regular golfers that are out of their element.  Watching Pebble is fine with highlighted celebs, but as a regular diet it doesn't fly.
