Hi,  I am an Aussie and I am going to be in Boca Raton in October for Work.  I was hoping to get some golf in and was hoping someone could recommend a couple of nice courses for me?  For Country Club's, can you get on as a vistor mid week?  I thought about TPC sawgrass, but its a little further away than I expected.

Thanks,

Dave

Polo Trace in Delray Beach is a very nice and challenging public course.

North Palm Beach Country Club is probably 1-1.5 hours to the north of Boca but well worth the drive.  It is a public course designed by Nicklaus.  Crazy fast greens.  Also Abacoa is an option but it is also north of Palm Beach a may be a bit of a drive.  It is also public.

In terms of private courses: Trump International in West Palm (near the airport) is one of the nicest and coolest courses I have ever played.  It is members only; I was a guest once.  Not sure if there is a reciprocal program.

Also PGA National has several courses in Palm Beach that are also Members only....

Have fun!

Yes, TPC is just a little out of the way. If you want that caliber of course you could play PGA National's Champion Course or the Doral Blue Monster. Neither are private, and are open to resort play. Trump is private and would require some connections as would Seminole, Adios,  Pine Tree, Polo Club etc. Polo Trace is one of the better public track that may be available to you. I have plenty of mid-range options that you can play that would include Atlantis, Boca Municipal, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach (Donald Ross design), West Palm, Westchester, Winston Trails and a gaggle of others. In Broward there is the Carolina Club, The Club at Emerald Hills, TPC Heron Bay, etc. You may be best served by asking if your hotel has any connections with some of the Boca courses like Woodfield, Broken Sound, Boca Beach, Boca West. Good luck.

I live in Delray Beach, and let me tell you there is a TON of golf in Palm Beach County. There are places where you'll be on a fairway and can see another fairway that isn't connected to the track you're playing! I'm not even kidding. There are literally hundreds of holes of golf, maybe thousands, and most play pretty well.

My home course, Delray Beach GC is fun to play, reasonable and the staff is friendly.

I second that. I launched The Sand Trap when I still lived in Delray Beach (500 N. Congress) and the Ross course there was pretty inexpensive too (IIRC only nine holes were Ross designed, the others were done in his style).

Lots of good golf there, especially in the summer when it's pretty inexpensive.
