Looking to upgrade to Players clubs

Hey everyone, as of recently I have had more time to get my game to the level at which I hope to keep it at. As of right now I a currently looking at the Titleist Ap2s, mizuno MP-53's or 52s, and ping i15s or S56s.

Here's a little bit of background on my game:

I am 6'3" 205lb. So I am a bit taller and am able to get the necessary torque to hit the ball decently long. As of right now I am playing Nike CCi irons (not the blades). My normal shot is straight or a slight draw (bout 5 yards). I feel like I hit the ball too high sometimes and would like to get a more penetrating ball flight. What I am basically looking for in a new set of irons is more workability with a good feel and decent forgiveness.

What is yall's input? Having hit/played the above listed clubs

Also, I think getting fitted for right length and lie would make probably the most difference in my game and help me score better.

I would go to where you plan to get fitted and hit all of their players irons.  I really like the look and feel of the new Taylormade forged line.  What are you playing now?

I don't see the point asking wat he is playing now ..... don't you read the question, he said it !!!!

Besides that to the OP, get fitted, hit some of the irons you like the looks of (I think it is important that you like the looks), maybe a players iron might bring what you are looking for, maybe even a musscle blade will bring what you are looking for, but it wouldn't surprise me if you are going to get higher ballflights with players irons, as the lofts are more traditional mostly.

Another aspect to think of is whether you like to be punished for mishits, bc that is what is going to happen .... plus being rewarder when you flush it.

Forget the fairy tale that you ball striking will improve if you move up to a more demanding iron ..... theonly way your ballstriking improves is putting more effort and time in, no matter which iron you play.

Trajectory has much more to do with shafts, angle of attack, the ball, etc. than with MOI and SGI or GI, etc.

Thanks Gerald!

Right now I'm kind of tired at looking at a relatively thick topline. I am looking to get something that is more appealing to my eye, and as you said liking the look of the club while standing over it, I believe inspires confidence in a shot. Definitely will be heading to get fitted after tomorrow (pay day) and will hopefully be walking out with a new set of clubs.

OK and if you are not sure wait another day and try again ....

One issue with ball flight could be getting the correct shafts in your irons....make sure you address that in your fitting session and find out what options are out there depending on which brand you decide on.
