S&T Swing plane, maaaan im confused

Should I have a traditional upright swingplane where at 1/3 swing my clubhead is "outside of my hands" or should me swing plane be "flatter" and bringing the clubhead "inside" of my hands?

The pro was showing my last night at my club fitting that my swing plane was flat which at 1/3 swing had the grip pointing out 20-30degrees right of target and that when i bring the club back down on that same swing path the club face is pointing 20-30 degrees right of target,.......then he showed me a steeper swing path that at 1/3 swing left the shaft and grip parrallel to target line, and then showed than when i return the club the clubface is square with the target line.

So my real question is, all these years I have had a flat swing plane with a traditional rotary swing,,....everything has been wrong,....have i now gone the other way and started using to steep a swing plane for a S&T; swing?

That is exactly what got me playing decent golf this year.  For the past several years, I was so focused on where the club was throughout the swing.  Instead, I now focus on my body and movements and really forget about the club.  It seems to be working well.
