Would you pay $450 to play Pebble? I know I would and will if I ever make it out there.

Good thread the wife just asked today if we could play pebble next year in a package with spyglass and poppy or whatever for a 3 dayer. If it is not ridiculous which I hear it might be such as having to spend 400 a nite plus the courses or 2400 each for 3 days then maybe next year.

I really wanted to when I was stationed there, but couldn't get a tee time. The money wasn't the issue . I did get on Spyglass 3 times and Spanish Bay once. My wife and I were married in Carmel and next year makes 10 so we are heading back for our anniversary and I hope to play it then.

My wife and I got married in Carmel 5 years ago this May. I'm not sure I could turn that into a golf trip since she doesn't play golf.

I've had a lot of opportunities but never played it. If you don't stay at the Lodge at least two nights you can't make a tee time more than 24 hours in advance. So you're probably going to go out as a single and hook up with three other golfers you don't know. That makes the experience less than optimal from my point of view. My wife and I play with lots of folks we don't know at our courses in SC, but that's not costing me $450 or (worse) $900. If they're bad golfers, or slow or annoying or whatever, it's no big deal. At Pebble's prices those things would really grind on my Scotch soul.

The best solution I have found is the spa, and Carmel has great ones.

My wife is just a beginning golfer, but wherever we go, we always get a Spa/golf package, that way she can spend 4-5 hours getting pampered and relaxing, and I can spend 4-5 hours driving myself mad!

As the saying goes, "when you go to Pebble, the cheapest thing about your trip will be the airfare." I went back in 2004 (only $395 then). We stayed at Spanish Bay (highly recommend that over the Lodge) from Sunday - Friday, played Spanish Bay, Spyglass, Poppy Hills, and Pebble. I think for 4 of us (only 2 golfing) the entire trip cost about $12k.

Personally I think it's ridiculous price for a round of golf. Anyone who can justify $450 for a round of golf has WAY more money to throw around than I do. I just spent $355 for airfare from Colorado to SW Florida plus 2 rounds of golf.... could have played yet another round and still been under the cost of one green fee at Pebble. It's a beautiful course, but I'm never going to see it anywhere but on TV.

    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
    • Day 23: Rained all day, so no ball hitting. Worked indoors on top of the backswing feel, and also putted around the living room working on bead.
    • Played Four Oaks in Dracut today going back to the 2 man scramble match play format. My brother and I shot a team 81 winning 3 and 2. Had so many good shots today using a more centered turn. Seems to have really iginited my golf game. We'll see if I can keep it going.
    • I read about him.  Hopefully we have a good “Next Generation” in PGAT future
