Finally was able to record my swing.  I know it's not the best lighting conditions, but here's the thing's I've noticed so far:

  • I seem to be "hunched" over, possibly because I'm standing too far back from the ball?
  • My back swing only goes back to my shoulder height.
  • I notice i lift my front foot as i start my swing (not sure if this matters)
  • When I finish, I tend to "lean back".

Please tell me how to fix all or some of these....Thanks guys!!

Take what I say with a grain of salt, but it seems to me as though your swing is too steep and there is little to no rotation at all almost as if you are swinging entirely with your arms. When I was in high school I had a swing similar to yours...until my golf coach made me start swinging a broom like I would a golf club 500 times a night. It's rather impossible to swing a broom like you are currently swinging your club, thus, by using a broom you will gradually begin to feel what a more appropriate golf swing should feel like....

At least in theory...hey, it worked for me. Like I said though, take what I say with a grain of salt.

Hopefully this helps, I'm sure someone else will reply with more knowledge and instruction though.

Any help is appreciated.  Ya, I've noticed I don't rotate much, when I'm swinging, I feel like I can't rotate anymore.  I'll have to try your broom trick, it sounds like it should work.

Again, thanks!!

So I went to the range yesterday, and when i twist more with my upper body, I either slam the club into the ground before the ball or i "top" the ball.

I can also feel myself pull up, even though i'm concentrating on not doing that.  Now my legs (the inside of my shins) were super sore and tight from working out the day before.  Could this be a reason?  Should I try again w/ a "clean slate" so to speak?

I hope that's descriptive enough.

The first thing you need to fix is that your hunching way over, it's really hard to tell what it is from this angle but are the clubs fit for you, at least size wise? If they are the proper size then you very well might be standing too far from the ball. When you setup, is the bottom of the club flat on the ground or is the toe off the ground a little with the hell of it down or vice versa?
