I am currently using 2009 Burner driver and loving it. However, I'm hearing a lot of good things about Burner Superfast 2,0. Just want to find out from those who have used both on how do you compare between the 2 drivers. The point is if the performance improvement is only marginal (say 5%), it just won't make sense for me to waste the money to buy a new drivers. Many thanks.

How about a comparison of Superfast 2.0 to other non-TM drivers?

Got to do a real three-way driver test this summer: Superfast 2.0, Callaway Hyper-X Tour (my normal driver, made in 2008), and Callaway RazR X... all in R flex shafts, with 10.5 degree loft heads. Hit a dozen balls with each on a sunny day with light breeze.

Had a good day hitting all three. Hyper-X and RazR X pretty well tied, decent loft and carry. Superfast went nearly as far as the other two, but took off with almost a 5-iron trajectory. I told the pro about it, and he said I might be better off in Superfast with a 9.5 degree loft. Superfast felt lightest and liveliest of three, just a bit too much hang time on the ball.

Suggestion: try multiple lofts in Superfast 2.0 to see which one is best, also check different shaft combinations.

Back to your original question: Some golfers might pick up 20 yards by switching to Superfast 2.0, while others might do better with the Burner-09. Individual differences in golfers come into play here. That's why we have launch monitors, so you can compare the two on specific performance factors.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • this topic brought to mind one my favorite golf-spectator memories. Back when, living in Santa Barbara CA, parked in my yellow cab just behind the 10th tee  (c. 380 yard par 4) at SB Muni golf course while eating lunch. A twosome comes by, and first up is this fat little mexican guy who takes a kinda squirelly practice swing, then addresses the ball and bashes a long, high, perfectly straight drive up to w/in about 5 yards of the green. Other guy is dressed to the 9's, pulls out what looks like a $300 driver....and hits a maybe 150-yard pop fly. Slams clubhead to the ground and yells, "it's fat! It's fat! Everything is fat today!!"  And that's how I learned what a "fat" shot is.
    • day 57. Technique practice in the net. Really trying to slow down.
    • It may not be surprising that in the previous 7,064 posts, this particular point has been discussed. To which I will counter: If we're talking about results, why only the majors? Unless you know something that I don't, neither of us are in any position to judge whether Woods or Nicklaus lived their overall life better, not that such a thing is even objectively measurable, nor is it relevant to the discussion.
    • As we've had to tell other people, the topic is which is the better GOLFER, not human being.
