Had my best round of golf ever whilst holidaying on the isle of man scoring 45pts on a 15 handicap on a pretty difficult course. arrived home and played my local course which is pretty easy and carded my worst score ive ever had with a miserable 21pts. this isn't the 1st time ive had inconsistent back to back rounds.  im convinced that i need to hit roughly 50 balls before i start a round to loosen up and free my swing. Any advice or warm up tips?

I agree with you on the warm-up.

I'm in my late 40' and found out that I need to hit a bucket to be ready to play my best.

I shot a great round last week after a good warm-up session. Today, though, I was running short on time - hit 10 balls and went to the first tee.  Needless to say by the time I felt ready to play golf, I had ruined my score already.  Not my worst. But, a big disappointment.

I carry a medicus heavy warm-up club in my trunk. If can't hit balls to warm-up, I try to take 15 minutes of gradually warming up from one handed swaying - to swinging - to two handed light swings - to full swings...

I also learned to take my Ibuprophen before I get in the car to go to the course.

Welcome to the real world.

I find that my best rounds are generally followed by 3 of my worst.

I have also found that I play much better in the afternoon - unfortunately I am generally an early morning golfer. I generally hit 25-30 balls before a round so that has had no bearing.

I have tried it both ways... walking up to the tee and warming up on the range.  40 balls would kill me but 10 or 15 is ok. I have a blown disk in my back but can still play.  Most of the time I end up just teeing off cold.

In a bantam championship I shot a 91 (was super, super sick very rundown and basically slept on the 16th hole while people were teeing off) and the next day an 81 - was extremely happy about my 81 and even the 91 considering the conditions. I ended in a tie for 43rd.

Just happened to me. Shot a 75 Tuesday at Magnolia Plantation - with a double-bogey on the last hole.

Went back today by myself & whatever I was doing right Tuesday I was doing wrong today. Shot 43 on the front, started the back bogey-par-par-double bogey-par then quit. Started raining, heard thunder & I was basically disgusted.
