Spent time on Google Earth searching "golf course" after setting HOME to see what's within an hour drive for me to play. Here are my results...

Many of them I have played at least once. Some of them I've played several times. Looks like I've got a lot more golf to play though!

One of the places I am envious of related to golf. You guys get to play year round in nice weather! Blazing heat and the couple months of cold make it barely bearable for a few months.

LOL. Outside of the 190 or so they presently have, it's pretty barren down there.

Heh, it's pretty much the same around here. The farthest I've driven for a course is maybe 40 minutes... going out an hour there is more than I want to count.

Well... the course has been for sale for a couple of years apparently and it's really been let go. It's got a great layout but is desperately in need of a lot of water and care. At $15 a person it was certainly at the right price. The greens were just barely playable, they had been aerated but not watered except rain is looked. Sad to see a course so let go...

I agree. I also live in the Detroit Metro area and there are dozens of high quality public courses within 30 minutes of my house. Extending this to 45 minutes brings in great tracks like The Majestic, Timber Trace (Pinckney), Dunham Hills, Shepherd's Hollow and others.

I should probably update the overall map pic. After spending a little more time on this at home I found dozens more courses and marked them. It's astonishing how many are out here lol. There's been some good deals on several courses I haven't played before lately. I should be checking off another 4-6 new ones over the next month.

Yeah, but the price you pay is that you have to live in Texas.

Bah I wouldn't want to live anywhere else... at least in the US.

Where are you at? Chances are I've been near it maybe...

That's blasphemy to a Texan. I know as I'm married to one. They love their state.

heh I was born in Ohio but been here for last 7 years now. Dad was Army and we got the usual shipments all over the world. I'm pretty much here because I want to be, not for a job or family or anything really other than I just like it lol.
