my first hybrid was a nike procombo 20*. Very nice more forgiving than it looks (kinda related to a tour shaped Adams hybrid) the sole was a bit thin even though if it was an iron it would have a large sole in comparison. Still have it just dont use it.

next was a Taylor made raylor. The newer model. Loved it great out of the rough unlike the wider sole Nike. But out of the fairway it was demanding since the "V" shape leading edge makes the lower edges of the club less forgiving. The shaft was a regular flex wish I would've considered reshafting but I no longer have that club.

now im playing a slightly "older" technology club. Even though the combo brazed design is something companies are just NOW experimenting and implementing into new designs. Tour edge exotics cb2 19*. The shaft is board-like stiff. But the feel is nice and it has great balance. One of the more unforgiving hybrid designs for its size, as it is made for a little less spin for more penetrating flight. Solid club just deciding on what kind of shaft i should throw on it.

My question is now that we have had hybrids in the market for a while now, much like the driver market, do older hybrids give up anything in performance compared to stuff new on the market????

Its tough seeing as older drivers are a vast amount where as the hybrid doesn't have a deep history in design or constant innovation.

Not really, hybrids haven't been out for very long.If its a few years old, play it, if its over like 5 years, no.

Hybrids are like fairways - if you find one that works for you, keep it.

If it doesn't work, continue the search.

Drivers and high lofted wedges - I'm resigned to purchase them once every 2 years. The high lofted (55-60) wedges because they wear. The driver ... because.
