With snow on the ground, I have lots of time to wander through the internet, and I've just stumbled onto the Sand Trap.  I'm 59 years old, generally 5 to 7 handicap, playing 70 or 80 rounds a year, and love to talk and read about golf.  I'm not a gear-head, but I love to play golf when I travel.  Luckily, my wife is just as addicted to the game as I am, and most of our vacations involve golf.  I play a fair amount of competitive golf, both through tournaments at my home club, and through inter-club play in our area.  I'll be hoping to learn a lot, and perhaps contribute my little bits of knowledge.

the only thing wrong with this car is the nut behind the wheel.

Welcome fellow Northern Virginian. Lots of good stuff here. In the "Group" area, you'll see a Mid-Atlantic group where some of us got together last year. We picked Timbers at Troy which was a hike, but was central to us all and fun to meet face to face. It's been tough getting momentum for another gathering, but might happen in 2015.

Thanks, Randy, I'll take a look at it.  Where do you play most of your golf?  I'm a member at Stoneleigh in Round Hill, out between Leesburg and Winchester.

I play the cheap muni's near Dulles Airport. Twin Lakes, Branbleton, Algonkian. They have decent packages you can prepay. I also look for deals on GolfNow spur of the moment on courses like Herndon Centennial, Reston National, etc. I once played WestPark in Leesburg (near toll road and 15) for a screaming good deal, but the clubhouse was kind of resentful I got such a cheap rate that day. Lol. It's a bit far for me anyway. I'll bet your course is much nicer than where I play. I try to limit my golf spending til the kids get through college! :)
