Hey guys:

I'm going through some improving golf in the last two months; going from 20.1 to 14.9 and finally heading in the right direction. I'm 68, 6'4'' and weight 225 lbs. I hit my Razar and average about 207 yds. Very accurate but Im always the shortest in length with my 12 or so buddies I always play with.

what I'm asking is if I bought the new Tailor-made R15 wold it help my length any? I lowered my handicap mainly by working on my short game very hard. now I would like to improve my performance off the tee. Would the Callaway razar fit extreme be any better?

Any thoughts out there?

People will differ with me, but I believe the R15, like the SLDR, is more for single digits with speed of 100+, although players in the 90's can play the higher lofts. The R15 is more forgiving, from all reports, than the SLDR. But that's relative. From all reviews, it is still not a forgiving driver for the typical golfer.

If you are making good contact with the RazrFit and have decent ball speed, I would guess your issue is swing speed. It will be tough for you, I would think, to get a lot of spin from the R15 so it can carry adequately.

You might demo the Aeroburner or the Callaway V Series Drivers, or Callaway XR, Nike Speed, (and even the Cobra FlyZ )-- lighter, more aerodynamic, more forgiving drivers -- the Callaway is adjustable, the Aeroburner is not.

But ultimately, we all need more speed - flexibility and better technique.

1) Congratulations on lowering your handicap. 5 strokes in two months is outstanding.

2) I can relate to your tee game. I'm 65 and roughly the same size as you. When I hit 60 my drives began getting shorter and shorter. I once hit it 260-270 off the tee, now my average distance is 220.

3) A new driver might get you a few extra yards, but I suspect it won't help much. I've tried a number of drivers in the last few years to try and get some distance back, and have settled on a TaylorMade R11 as being the best driver for me.

4) I've always been an advocate for lowering your handicap by working on your short game. Your improvement is an indication of just how much work you have done.

Continued success, and I hope you find a club that gets you some extra distance. :-)
