3 Wood Shaft in a driver?

The shaft in my RBZ Stage 2 broke a few weeks after buying it from rock bottom golf, Taylormade said they wouldn't do anything because it was from Rock Bottom. I had an Aldila Voodoo 60g shaft put into it. It is about a half inch longer than my 3 wood now, but I believe it is a wood shaft not a driver shaft. The guy who did it had it sitting around and charged me $25 for the fix and shaft, so I can't complain. Is there any downside to a short shaft? Possible distance, but should technically be more accurate? I haven't been hitting it well at all, lots of slices, but I feel it's just my swing.

Driver shafts generally are about 2" longer from the manufacturer. However, many of us play shorter driver shafts. I play 44.5" and my 3W is 43". A short shaft will give you better control and you may lose some swing speed, but the trade-off may work for you. The speed different may only be a couple of mph. I would give it a try for a while and see how you like it.

A shorter shaft will significantly reduce swingweight and make the club feel a lot lighter. This works for some people but not for others. A club that feels too light may affects the tempo of your swing.
