From the video, your swing seems quite impressive. It is hard to see your grip, which is usually the main reason for a slice as well as not following through. But your follow through seems fine.

I've watched the video of your swing. Too bad the camera couldn't catch you at impact. All I can watch is only right when you're going to do the downswing and then the follow through. So, here's what I've seen.

First of all, you do have a nice swing. However, to me it seems that you're moving your weight on the outside of your back foot. Keep it on the inside part. I also noticed that your head tilted a bit to the right when you initiate the back swing, which reminds me of the picture of young Jack Nicklaus on Gold Digest's Oct issue, which the sign of a power hitter.

Another thing is to let your right elbow bends naturally during the backswing. This will make your swing path heads more to the inside than the outside. This is also why you have that pull slice - over the top. Make sure you keep your right elbow fairly close to your right rib, but not too close. Just feel the part above of your left elbow brushes your left chest a bit during the takeaway and then then natural bending of the right elbow.

Since there's no frame at impact, I'll just make comments on the follow through. It looks like you are not extending your arms enough. At the first frame of the follow through, both your arms are collapsed. At this moment, your right arm should fully extended (straightened) and your left elbow is bent just similar to your right elbow during the backswing. My suggestion is to keep hitting down, with what you're doing you look like you're picking up the ball.

The reason here to me why you hit pull slice is because of the over the top swing path with open clubface. I think that's all. Hope this helps.

P.S: Do you see 2 or 3 left hand knuckles on your grip when you address? I can't really tell from the video. Anyway, 2-knuckle is good, 3 is too strong.

I have a weaker grip now... And I am working on my takeaway and downswing.

By clicking on the slider bar by the smallest amounts, it appears that you start the downswing with your left shoulder moving out towards the ball which is classic OTT for a slice.

Many do this believing that the club has to go forward towards the target, where in fact the hands must go down (towards the right toe) and out (towards the ball). These two vectors combine to send the ball to the target. [Go to www.lynnblakegolf.com , join (it's free) go to the "gallery" and download the Tomasello video file "Chapter 6 - Alignments" (13304 KB) - and you'll see what I mean.] Summarizing what Tom Tomasello says, he talks of the 3 dimensions (1) Up and Down, (2) Forward towards the target and its opposite Backward, and (3) standing In from the ball, i.e. the ball is Out from you. So using these terms we can now describe movement in the golf swing. The takeaway consists of moving the club In and Backward. One the right elbow folds the club goes Up. Altogether the club has gone In, Backward and Up. Slicers then try to move the club forward from the top by moving the right shoulder which causes the clubhead to cross the line - OTT. From the top, the two moves must be Down and Out - and these two forces combine to send the ball Forward to the target. So, at the top of your swing the hands must go Down and Out. Think of the right shoulder going down and under the left. The left shoulder must not move towards the target. Of course, there's a lot more to it than that. I haven't for example mentioned the support of the lower body in the downswing, etc. Hope this helps.

To me it looks like the only issue is dropping that left shoulder towards the target and pulling the right arm through instead of letting the right arm drop and the right hand to push it through. Other than that, its a pretty smooth swing.

BTW - as a newb, you can disregard my reply. I've been a lurker, just trying to get a little more involved with the forum now.

A down the line video angel would be good to see. fusioncal mentioned your weightshift over your back foot. Trying to keep your weight on the inside of your back foot is correct. However, the bigger problem is the fact that your back leg is straightening up in your backswing. This allows the weight to get over or outside your back foot, but by straightening, it also tilts the upper body forward which means it will tilt backwards in your downswing. This is your feeling of not being fully able to shift your weight forward in the downswing.
Try to maintain the flex in your back knee that you establish at address. From there you will be able to load up on the inside of your back foot.

The grip looks good on the video, but if you can only see one knuckle, you're going to need a little more release or right hand rotating over the left to square up the club. Two to 2 1/2 knuckles is a good starting point.

What club are you hitting, it looks like a low loft considering how far back it is in your stance.

To do with your swing, you need a video of your swing from behind you (up the line view), if you can see only 1 knuckle i would suggest your grip is too weak, 2 knuckles is ideal.

it looks like you have no room to swing at impact, you should address the ball with roughly 5 - 7 inches on room between your left hand and your belt buckle (this is roughly the same as the span of your hand, fully stretched, from thumb tip to little finger)

You have no width after impact what so ever, instead you are dragging your club straight left after impact, through impact feel like your extending the club face as far as you can towards the right of the target after impact.

Your hips are swaying too far to the right in the back swing but isn't really going to affect your downswing as much as you cope with it well on the down swing

At the top of your swing you don't seem to complete the swing with your shoulders, which i think is leaving you in a laid off position at the top of your swing (club pointed to the left of the target) and you are unable to re route the club enough on the downswing to avoid the slice.

So my main tips would be:
Complete shoulder turn on back swing so that you make a full turn and get the club pointed too the target (too aid this i would add this warming up well is key, when stretching your shoulders (club across shoulders etc) hold the stretch on each side for 25 seconds, in general do this as often as possible)

After impact make sure you get plenty of width after the ball, extend the club head out towards the right of the target after impact.

Hope this helps.

this is not true, if you are hitting shots left to right, moving the club closer to your finger tips and seeing extra nuckles will help. trust me, i've been playing since i was 10 and always had a natural cut, strengthened that left hand and now my shot is straight maybe 1-3yd draw, and alot further. it has been the greatest lesson i ever learned.

incredible tempo on the golf swing. I think if you can start dropping your hands on the downswing, everything else will take care of itself.

lots of the other things people are mentioned are due to the fact that you are getting a bit ahead of the ball due to the shoulder lunge. once that is corrected, everything else should correct itself.

You are shifting your weight to the outside of you right foot and straightening you right leg on your back swing. You should keep weight on the inside of your right foot and maintain flex in you right leg so that it does not straighten out.

You my friend, are not hitting a draw, your hitting a pull hook, strengthening your grip does not change the path of your downswing, and your hitting it further because you are delofting the club face and pulling it.

Some of this has been touched on. In general, I don't mind your hands being close to the body, but in your case it is because you posture isn't good. You are standing too tall. Get a little more hip flex. This will put your body further from the ball and give your arms room to swing. Because you are standing so straight, your arms actually move away from your body when you start your backswing. Also your body moves toward the ball right as you start your downswing. From here, the only way you can make contact is to cut across the ball.

Things to work on:

1. Better posture. More flex in the hips will give your arms room to swing. From here you can swing the club back a little more to the inside.
2. Make sure your shoulders are square. They appear to be slightly open.
3. Maintain flex in your back leg.
4. Feel the downswing more from the inside.
5. Feel the right arm release over the left coming through impact.

The first two corrections are address problems. Those are easy enough to fix. Three through five should be worked on one at a time until corrected. In fact each one may make the next correction easier.
