New Ping Color Codes

In the December issue of Golf Magazine (for those of you who don't subscribe), there is an article regarding changes that Ping has made to its color code system. This is huge since they are even changing some of the existing color code lie angles...

Color Code --> Old Lie Angle --> New Lie Angle
Maroon --> 5* Up --> 4.5* Up
Silver --> 4* Up --> 3.75* Up
White --> 3* Up (no Change)
Green --> 2* Up --> 2.25* Up
Yellow --> New Code 1.5* Up
Blue --> 1* Up --> .75* Up
Black --> Standard (No Change)
Red --> 1* Flat --> .75* Flat
Purple --> New Code 1.5* Flat
Orange --> 2* Flat --> 2.25* Flat
Brown --> 3* Flat (No Change)
Gold --> 4* Flat --> 3.75* Flat

Interesting. Thanks for posting this. Anything in the article about whether these new codes/lie angles will be available on all Ping irons (the ones you can still get from Ping anyway) or just the newer g10 and i10 models.

The new color codes are already on the Ping web site and incorporated into their WEB-FIT process. There is no mention of them limiting it to the newer models. However, to be sure, you could call their customer service line. If they are following the new guidelines with older sets, then as always they will track the exact lie adjustments by each club's serial number, which becomes key now that there are different versions of the same code depending on when the work was done on the club by Ping.

Re: New Ping Color Codes

I just got a new set of I5's in Sept. Green Dot which was suppose to be 2* up. WOndering when the changes actually took affect? I will have to double check my build sheet, not that I would notice .25* but I want to make sure I have accurate info if I ever to go and re sell.
