I am looking to purchase new irons. I am a 12 and have been playing Ping i3's for 7+ years. I would like a good "feeling" players club yet forgiving as I am not able to get out or to the range every week. I have about a 85-90mph 6 iron swing speed. I hit the MP 57's, TM r7 TP's and the MX 25's. The TM r7 TP's felt more forgiving but less feel than the 57's. The MX 25's felt good but a little clunky. Anyone out there hit these and have any feedback? Much appreciated. Thx

The reason why r7 felt less I'm sure is because it's cast irons unlike MP-57 which is forged. It's actually matter of preference. If it's feel you're looking for then go with Mizuno. I believe even the MX-25 feels better than the r7. Otherwise pick r7 for more forgiving type of irons.

There's another way to have both feel and forgiveness of the r7. You need to check out Japanese forged r7 irons set. FYI, they also have the r7 TP forged, which look really awesome.

What's in the bag:
Driver: r7 SuperQuad 10.5° ~ UST Proforce V2 65g Regular
Wood: 906F4 18.5° ~ Aldila VS Proto 80g Stiff
Irons: MP-60 3-PW ~ True Temper Tour Concept S3
Wedges: Vokey Oil Can 252.08, SM56.10 & SM60.08Putter: Marxman Mallet 33"

There are things you might want to consider in upgrading irons . Not all you see or try may be the right one . Manufacturers Advertising and being IN may not give you what you want for your game . Google the iron of your choice and read the independent feedbacks from satisfied golfers . Also try models from 2-3 years ago . Ther are a lot of game improvement set that are well worth it but have been shadowed by all these new so called technology . Market place of this forum is a good place to start . Used well cared sets are their weight in Gold . Plus you get to spend your savings on other matters that can bring your game to the next level .

Chavez, have a look at KZG Forged Cavity II irons. I enjoy using them alot and they're really good quality clubs however, not as popular as say, Mizuno MP's. Happy golfing!!

Try Golfsmith.com and look at the Snakeyes 600B and 600C and 600XC sets. There a component club. All the heads are forged. I got a combination set of C and B's. The C's (small cavity backs) from the 3 to the 6 and the B's (blades) from the 7 to the SW. There a high end club and the heads are on sale now because they have just got a newer model in. You could get a set of 3 to SW with rifle shafts for around 40% of the Mizuno's or Taylormade's. Here's a link to the product.

I ordered the materials and had them made by a local golf pro. I absolutly love them they feel like butter and the cavity backs are forgiving.

Driver - Taylormade R9
3 Wood - Titlelist 909F2 15.5 degrees

2H - Nickent

4H - Taylormade
Irons - Mizuno MP-63 5-PW
Wedges - Titlelist 52 and 60 and Cleveland CG-15 56
Putter - Scotty Cameron Stainless Steel NewportBall - Pro V or V1

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
    • The last time I played Maxfli balls, Dunlop was still making them. How long ago was that? Mostly, though, I used to play Top Flites (original 336 dimple model) when Spalding was still making them. Now I play the Pro V1x. Last time that I ordered some, Titleist was still making them. Let's see how long that lasts.
    • Once, on a course in Middleton, Massachusetts that I used to love but has since closed down,  I hit the wrong half of a huge, UK style double green.  Then I made the hundred foot putt.  Tough to  forget that one.
    • No. But if I can still play next year, I'll almost certainly be even worse. That's the reality of not being young.🙁
