  2. This past January I was diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis - a severe compressing of the nerves by vertebrae within my spinal column in the lower back. To walk or stand for more than five minutes becomes very painful. I can be treated and hope to have my full health back in a few months. It's tough to not play but I know I'll be giving golf a run for its money again perhaps by late summer. I literally live in a condo with my balcony overlooking the sixteenth hole of Kellogg Golf Course, a local layout here in Peoria. This truly inspires me every day when I look out there and watch others playing there games and admittedly depresses me too if I let it. The key is don't let it. So I've embarked on a whole new effort. My goals are (1) to play golf regularly again. (2) dare myself to play retro clubs. Thanks to ebay I am buying a set of beautiful Ram Golf persimmon woods as I type. 1-3-5. I already bought the same Ram irons - in almost new condition no less - that I played when I was a six handicapper and had no qualm playing from the "blue tees" with my golf buddies. Or competitors. Am I mad? I don't think so. (3) form new strategies of scoring better despite my physical condition, and (4) be happy to be playing golf no matter what I use, how I swing, and what I do on the course.
  3. C, B, A State of my game: I hit my drive very well most of the time but never long on level ground. I hit my fairway woods well only 25% of the time. Medium-long Irons are inconsistent due to tendency to pull shots left. Short irons and wedges are typically good. Putting is great with my handicap range. Self analysis: I wish I could spend more time on my game.
  4. I am Staying Ahead of the Game with Sun Mountain! Rory McIlroy -1 Brandt Snedeker +1 Lee Westwood Even
  5. Lee Trevino, Arnold Palmer from my youth, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson today.
  6. I'm a one-time skateboard user, being not very coordinated I guess it would be once with this too!
  7. The day golf became easier for me was when I accepted the fact I couldn't change my swing to become a really great golfer like a pro. Not without training, lessons, and the time required to make significant improvements. What I discovered was consistency. Which led to control. Which led to confidence. For some reason I tried adjusting my stance to a more open one and just tried hitting balls at a favorite out of the way driving range located at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia. I began hitting shot after shot in places I intended to and never had to give thought what I was doing mechanically. When I realized I finally had control of the ball's destiny - it went where I wanted it to - I truly fell in love with the game of golf! This transformed me overnight and I applied it to a game that went from low nineties to low eighties to low seventies in a very short time.
  8. Hey everyone, I had to really put thought into the question as I've been playing for 47 years now. I calculated about 136 in the US: Virginia - 50, Texas - 18, Maryland - 12, NY - 10, NC - 8, California - 6, Pa. - 5, Nevada - 4, Kansas - 4, Iowa -4, Florida - 4, Utah - 2, Tennessee - 2, WV - 2, Mo. 1, SC 1, Ga. 1, Illinois - 1, and Michigan - 1. And 4 outside the US: VI -1, Bermuda - 2, and Cyprus - 1. Puts me at about 140. To next get to 150 is 10 that I'll make a "bucket list" for and will post them in this forum.
  9. PING is going to help me be fast and forgiving with the new G Driver and Crossover! Louis Oosthuizen -12 Zach Johnson -15 Sammy Schmitz -18
  10. I want to boost my game with Adipower Boost. Jordan Spieth -9 Jim Furyk -12 Graham DeLaet -11
  11. I was B-FIt for Bridgestone Tour B330-RX golf balls. Louis Oosthuizen -15 Jason Dufner -11 Brandt Snedeker -13
  12. Just an observation, but it seems very few folks read the rules at all for this contest. If one of us received a buck for every wasted pick made they could buy the Callaway club outright!!!
