What was your improvement 1 year after you started golfing?

So me and a mate where having a few beers the other night, and he asked if I had our first scorecard.

I did a bit of rummaging for it, but found out first score card. A Par 72, and we were finishing it on 141 strokes.

1 year on, we are disappointed if we don’t break 100. 

We still have a long way too go, and I still slice my driver.

whats your improvements over your first year? Is it 40+ shots like ours? Or is that normal?

I don’t remember my score improvement but I do remember my consistency in striking the ball (no more duffs and blades) was much better which will always lower scores. I don’t think breaking 100 is out of the question for you in a year.

I just finished my first year of serious golf. One year ago I was a 36.5 index, today I am a 19. I consistently break 100 and I am flirting with consistently breaking 90.

My first year playing I shot around 118 - 125 for 18 holes. My second year I started keeping a handicap and got it to 25 with some serious lessons. My third year it dropped to 20. I'm playing at approximately 19 now although it's not official. I could make it official but you can't record rounds where you just go out an play solo anymore and thus I dropped it. But I found that if I play at 19 for friendly matches it works out pretty well.
