I did something today, which I have done a few times in the past, which was was to invite another, unknown person to practice with me.

Sure, in the past, I have practiced with friends, and family like most of us have done. This however, was different, in as much that I didn't know the guy.

Our practice area has an area that offers up to 100+ yard shots to a flag pin. It's usually the most used part of the area. Folks must use their own balls, as range balls are not permitted in this area.

Anyways, as I was practicing there was a guy patiently waiting for me to finish my routine. Nor wanting to be rushed, and not knowing how long I would be practicing, I invited the guy to practice with me. He accepted.

It worked out well for both of us. We took turns hitting balls, while doing the idle chit, chat about golf thing. Basically just sort of getting know each other.

The guy was intrigued with how easy I seemed to hit my long flop shots. I gave him a few pointers, and in a short time he he was hitting longer flops too.

After we finished, we shook hands, and planned to play 18 holes together at a later date.

So, has anyone else ever just up, an offered to practice with someone new to them?

I have many times and have become golf buddies with some of them through the years.

As Manager of our Clubs Mens Game, I make it a point to introduce myself to new members I do not know or have not met.

I also have enough awareness to not interrupt anyone working diligently on their game, but wait and choose my opportunity at a later time.

A few of my most memorable rounds have been with individuals whom I just met, either on the range or as a single out playing.

I have a small group and we will practice at times together.  We film each other and help make sure alignment is good.  Plus sometimes have some close to pin competitions.

    • Day 129: 5/4/24 Stack training but could not certify my warmup speed. Dealing with a pulled neck muscle. Chips and pitches at a local course for about 15 minutes.
    • Typically less than 50. I find this can be affected by the "CART" signs on a given course. I don't like taking my rangefinder out of the cart and carrying it around to the green. I am very fearful I will leave it somewhere.
    • First ever holed out greenside bunker shot! It's crazy it took this long to finally get one during a round, but the cold streak is officially over. Hole 6 on the Palmer Course at PGAN. I hit my driver like 225 into a really stiff wind, then worm burned a hybrid into the bunker. I was about I dunno, 40-45 feet away. Birdie! Let's go! The red Xs the approximate location of each shot.  Really fun!!
    • Day 23: Rained all day, so no ball hitting. Worked indoors on top of the backswing feel, and also putted around the living room working on bead.
    • Played Four Oaks in Dracut today going back to the 2 man scramble match play format. My brother and I shot a team 81 winning 3 and 2. Had so many good shots today using a more centered turn. Seems to have really iginited my golf game. We'll see if I can keep it going.
