I was wondering in golf do you ever think that we will get such good clubs that people will be able to have a perfect game? IE 18 holes in one.

Is this a serious question? Last I checked no matter what the club is like you still have to swing it.

My Clubs: Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5° w/ Matrix Ozik Xcon 6 stiff; Sonartec GS Tour 14° w/ Graphite Design Red Ice 70 stiff; Adams Idea Pro 2h(18°) & 3h(20°) w/ Aldila VS Proto 80 stiff; Adams Idea Pro Forged 4-PW w/ TT Black Gold stiff; Cleveland CG12 DSG RTG 52°-10° & 58°-10°; Odyssey...

I don't know if the club will be the reason or not. I would think it would be weather or not you can get it through the clown's mouth before it closes or if you get it pass the damm windmills.

first off yes this is a serious question, I guess to better frase it, If person a has some fair clubs but person b has like 1,000 dollar clubs would person b do better than person a. In bowling with the advancement of technology the better ball you have the better the chance of you scoring a 300. Dont knock mini golf their are pros out their.

Well, yes, good equipment does help, but it will not get you 18 HIO in a round..

when i first read your question i pictured Rodney Dangerfields .22 caliber driver from Caddy Shack. Thanks, I had a great laugh.

On top of that you compared bowling to golf. That speaks for itself.

I'm sure most of the people on this site have nearly $1,000 worth of stuff in their bag. I believe Taylor Made has an interchangeable shaft driver coming out soon that will cost $1,000 with 3 different shafts. If they can gaurantee hole-in-ones I'll definitely pick one up

18 holes in one?

People raises their eyebrow when they hear someone gets 2-3 holes in one in a week. Let alone 18, zero chance. Besides you'll never have the chance to hole in one in long par 4s and par 5s.

Wait a minute. . . has anybody even ASKED Tiger this question??

"Mr. Woods, do you in fact have Game Perfecting Clubs in your bag, and did you misplace them in the 2004 season?" This could answer ALL the questions! IN FACT, maybe that time Phil said Tiger played with "inferior" technology, it was that Tiger had misplaced his Game Perfecting Clubs, which are sprinkled with a mixture of one part soil from St. Andrews, one part ashes of Bobby Jones, one part golden bear fleece, and a drop of his own blood.

But BACK to this very good question. Dude, you are just gonna have to go spend 3k on a set of clubs and go find out!!

Why would you ever want to shoot 18 holes in one? That wouldn't be any fun at all. Last I heard a "perfect" game would consist of all birdies, which is highly unlikely as it is....

1) A perfect game, in my book is 54. Tee shot out there, approach to green, make putt, every hole. That's perfection as far as golf is concerned.
2) It will never be achieved. Far too many variables exist: fairway lies, wind, bumps on the green.

Let's imagine the most plausible way to do this: you hit every tee shot in the fairway (or, at least, not in ANY trouble) and you hit every green (or, you miss close enough for a makeable chip). You simply won't make 18 birdie putts. You won't. Moreover, for every one you don't make, you've got to make EAGLE to get back on track to 54. MAYBE you'll have two reachable par 5's per round, or now you're relying on holing out on your approach.

Bottom line is, that's what makes this sport great. Put 80 of the best players in the WORLD and have them played FOUR rounds, and the top 20 will probably be separated by 5-6 strokes. With widespread variance in equipment, who played from what side of the fairway on which hole, who ran over a spike mark on which putt, who had a wind gust.....and on and on, and there will be about 2% separating them. It's why golf will endure for a very, very long time....

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

It appears that even Jackie G. is saying no way.

I don't mean this to be insulting, BUT...

Have you ever been driving and see someone do something real stupid, then you just have to pull up next to the car to get "a look" at the person capable of doing such...

Well, I would like to get a look at the person who asked this question, just out of curiosity.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
