What is the greatest round(s) you’ve ever witnessed by someone you’ve played with? If you want to post about the best rounds you’ve seen on TV, I’m gonna make a topic about that as well. Here are two of mine, both played by my dad:

1) It was our foursome’s first round at one of the toughest courses in Durham, Croasdaile Country Club. He played the blue tees (6511 yards, par 72), and shot 40-39 for an outstanding 79, with nothing more than a bogey and nothing more than a five. He was really on his game that day.

2) This was my favorite of these two. At our home course, it was just me and him playing. He shot a 43, on the front nine, I shot 48, and walking to the tenth tee, he turned to me and said, “Let’s shoot even on the back nine.” I said to him, “Good luck on that.” The back nine is the harder of the two nines. But I was keeping both his score and my own, and as we walked to the 16th hole, I looked at the scorecard and realized he made six straight pars. He then birdied the 16th. I was amazed, thinking he might even break par. But he missed the green on 17, and missed his par putt by a fraction of an inch. He then parred 18 for an even-par 36 on the back for a 79, exactly what he said he was gonna do.

My grandpa and I both believe that if my dad had more time and money to play, he would be really good. I’ve seen him break 80 once, maybe more than once. I do remember his lowest. He shot a 77 (42-35) once, but that was probably three, four years ago.

Mid am, 71.0 course rating (par 72). I played with a guy that shot -6 on the first 9 and +2 on the back.
I shoot -2 on the first 9 but compared to him my round was like trash.

Years ago i was playing in the state open with this former touring pro turned PGA professional. Think britton was his name. Dude shot 65 or 66 on a 7200+ yard course despite never driving the ball further than 240 yards or so. He was dropping rescues and 3-woods inside my 6 or 7 iron. Think i shot 75. I was just slack jawed most of that round. He did well in the second round too but not as good as that first one. I ended up missing the cut by a mile.

Ive also played in a US open sectional with a dude from the nationwide or web tour (whatever it was called back then) who broke 140 and qualified despite never seeing the course until he rolled up into the parking lot that morning.

That guy in the first story must’ve been extremely accurate if he was consistently pin-hunting with longer clubs. To shoot 65 or 66 on a Tour-length course while being a short hitter is amazing.

I was playing in a junior medal with my friend Mike( we were both 15/16, and both been playing for about 2 years and both playing of a 9 index. Mike shot a 61(-6). He was -5 on the front nine and birdied the tenth to get to -6.  A bit of a wild ride the rest of the way but he held it together. It is still the junior course record.  IIRC he had 10 putts on the front nine and chipped in twice, both times for birdie.

I played ok and got cut a shot that day but I think Mike got cut about 4.5.

Ive played loads of times with European tour players and seen some amazing golf but that was my favourite round. For 10 holes everything he touched turned to gold, and he held on to seal the deal.

I played with a guy on the SHSU golf team when I was on the track team there. I think I broke 50...and he shot even par and was playing around being aggressive from everywhere because we played from 6500 yards.

Think he only missed a couple shots the entire round. He was a machine.
