Do any of you play the small town charity fundraising events. I am only referring to the small events that raise money for different causes.

My buddy was expressing an interest in playing some small charity events. He usually shoots around 105-110 and I wasn't sure if that was a playable score for those type of events.

The ones around here cost around 75 to maybe 150 per person. If you do play them, do they suck, or are they fun and worthwhile?

Often these events cater to the occasional or novice golfer by using a "scramble" format.  If your buddy can get 3 friends to join him, he will have a day on the course and support a charity.

With the right group, these events can be fun as long as no one is too serious about the golf.

Agree,  If you go out just to enjoy the day and not even worry about the score, you will have fun.   Last one I played in, there were 20 4 man teams and we came in 2nd to last place with a 7 under par. Even the worst player on the team had some of his shots used.  We were happy with how we did and enjoyed the day.  Keep the right attitude and you will have a good day.

    • After a bit of a lean spell managed to birdie stroke hole one, long par five. Ball striking best it’s been for a while short game exactly the opposite. Had so many opportunities to post good scores last three or four games, failed miserably😀
    • Would You Rather #69 For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.  Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.  or  Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.  Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.
    • I hate that I agree with this. But the guy is like a Ferrari with four flat tires trying to go 200 mph. Bad things can only come from that. He turns 50 on December 30th. I wonder how long Golf Cart Tiger lasts out there.
