Hello all,

I have a bad habit of straightening the right leg and standing up in the downswing. I have some drills that I’m working on that I got off YouTube.

I am wondering what worked best for you.

Thank you guy and gals for all the tips!

It’d be helpful to see your swing. There will be some ‘straightening’ of your trail leg in the back swing. You don’t want it to completely straighten, or especially lock up. Have you seen this?

I believe my rt knee is locking.
Now  I’m just trying to feel the pressure in my right inside foot in the downswing, it’s frustrating trying to break this bad habit. I remember it was so bad last year it felt like I would almost jump a little in the down swing. I have never really felt myself using the ground, I’m trying to figure it out.

Thanks all

When you learn to feel the weight of the clubhead as you swing, your body naturally will not stand up. Your shots will be a lot more consistent. But this is a skill that requires a lot of practice. I'm still learning. As I swing, my ONLY thought is to concentrate on feeling where the clubhead is.

    • I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.
    • It is. So, just 2 and 3 above now. 😄
    • Hopefully this one is better
    • Patrick Cantlay's strokes gained from 2024: I wonder if he takes more time on approach shots given that was the worst part of his game last season. And then here are his 2023 stats: Much better ball striking season. I wonder if there are any differences in his times between these two seasons. I tend to think he's just slow in general, but it'd be interesting to see his time differences.
    • Not sure, I think players have their own pace. Speith was always slow, regardless if he was in contention or not. Well, more so when he was in contention. It might be a push there on that question.
