im a freshman college student in new york, waiting for this stupid winter weather to go away so i can get out on the course! been playing the game all my life, introduced to it by my friend's father about 10 years ago. hope to get to know some of you and talk about the game!

Welcome aboard - hopefully you are in the civilized (city/island) area. I really miss it up there - but here you basically trade dealing with the lesser educated for year round golfing.

Hey. Just joined up here...I'm 23 and in Manhattan. Just really starting to get serious about my golf game. I'm going to Mexico in April to play at the Four Seasons Resort Nicklaus course there; it will be amazing i hope.

Anyways, i've got a Westchester Parks card so if anyone wants to hit up the courses there, let me know!

      I got two trips lined up this year.  First, Pinehurst next month. Qual Ridge, Mid Pins, Southern Pines 😁, Mid South, Talamore. I am looking forward to playing Southern Pines since it got redone.  Second, a trip to eastern Wisconsin in early August. Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills.

      You are probably doing the right thing in having more fairway woods or hybrids in your bag than irons. Just easier to maximize ball speed for you swing speed to get the proper gaps.  A driver is teed up, so you have more leeway there. The 7-wood is probably more optimized for carry for you. A slower swing speed needs higher launch and spin to keep the ball in the air. With the 3-wood, it probably launches too low with not enough spin to keep it in the air.  If you are not going to go get lessons, or do some sort of swing speed training, go get fitted for clubs. Clearly your mix-match of equipment is not optimized.

      32 putts are average for a single digit handicap golfer. Limiting three putting is the biggest task. Speed control is the most important aspect of putting. Probably the 2nd most important is aim.  The putter is going to rotate open a bit on the backstroke. It might stay square to the arc of the putting stroke, but that does mean the face opens up a bit on the backstroke when measured against where the face is oriented at address. Go get a putter lesson as well.

      Keep us up to date with your findings, please.  I'm not looking for a putter, but I'm sure you're not alone in your venture to get the putts rolling better.
