Good morning guys and gals,

1. I'm just curious, assuming you don't have any problem hitting either 3hybrid or 3 iron, when do you decide to use 3H or 3 iron? I mean what condition that make using 3H more advantage than 3 iron or vice versa?

FYI: 3 H is 20 degree while the 3 iron is 21 degree. Assuming the difference in distance is minimal, and you're not really concern about it. Personally I prefer 3 iron than 3H cause I feel like I can dig through the grass/take divot.

2. Are you suppose to take a divot with a 3 Hybrid?

My friend and I argued about this matter this past weekend and none of us is happy with the answers.

Thanks
Steve

Good morning guys and gals,

I would pick the hybrid in these conditions...lie in rough, sand, divot, side hill or downhill and when I needed a higher trajectory. Slight divot if any.

I would use the three iron for these conditions...working the ball off the tee, hitting it lower especially into the wind, tight lie, uphill and for punch shots. Again slight divot but more than the hybrid. I have a 2H and a 3 iron and tend to play them in the above general scenarios. I don't take a noticeable divot with the hybrid for two reasons 1). the swing is more sweeping and 2). the sole tends to glide and not dig. I hope this is helpful.

1. I prefer the 3H out of FW bunkers and rough and like the 3i for knockdown shots when amongst the trees.

2. With divots, I think it depends on the hybrid. I've only used 2 3H before, a Rescue Mid and MD, and they couldn't be complete opposites. The MD performs better if you take a divot whereas I didn't like to take divots with the Rescue.

Either way though, I get better results with a 3H using a slight descending blow vs. sweep. I recently put the 3i back in my bag because I have a 3i now that I can somewhat reliably hit high. And if I need a hybrid, I'll just choke up on my 2H.
