March Madness Best Mid-Major Golf Brand

I was thinking about mid majors in basketball when i realized that golf has its own mid-major equipment companies. I wanted to know who you think is the next up and coming brand in the market today. I see a lot of progress with these companies from where they were a couple years ago.

I would say Mizuno is comparable to Gonzaga (though not from a mid-major conference). They still aren't a Duke or Kansas, but they have been there enough that people know the name.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nickent bust up some brackets. They have some potential, but they could just use a couple of good breaks.

I take it Mizuno isn't as big in America as it is over ion Europe?

Over here it is up there in the top 5 brands.

I once read Mizuno were the most used iron on the US tour and the only player who was payed to use them was Donald.

So pro's were buying the irons to be use despite having deals with other club makers.

Tiger used Mizuno irons as an amateur I think.

There is no way that Mizuno is a mid major golf company. They make great gloves, irons, wedges, putters and drivers. They even make good golf balls but at $68 a dozen, they can stay on the shelf.

Their apparel line is pretty sweet, too.

Best mid major company at the moment in my opinion is Adams, seem to be coming out with some cracking clubs this season, their new sqaure driver is sexual :)

I know adams golf with the insight driver and the hybrids--they are a great company

again Adams are just about up there, remember when Faldo and Watson were using them in the late 90's.

They have always been one of the market leaders in fairway woods.

I would agree that Mizuno is in the elite of golf production companies, and I would have to put Adams at the very top of the mid-majors. They are always on the Golf Digest Hot List, and the only club they don't sell is putters. They typically have either the number 1 or 2 most used hybrids on each respective tour, their fairway woods and drivers are getting a lot of attention, they have many options as far as irons for beginners to scratch players, and they have the Watson line of wedges. Along with that, Aaron Baddely and Rory Sabbatini jumped on board with Adams Golf this year and are some great young talents on the PGA Tour. They are a company that has always been popular on the Champions Tour and are making themselves known on the PGA.

Yeah I wouldn't call Mizuno a "mid-major" brand.

Without Mizuno in the mix, my vote would go for Adams and then Bridgestone.

Adams.....hands down. I do play them, but I researched every brand out there when I stepped up from a beginner set to my current Idea Tech OS set.

I hit, read, and asked about every brand. Adams to me is one of few companies doing things a little different. Just my .02

I would vote Nickent as a second company.

Id Consider Mizuno almost a major brand considering they sell very good irons that sell way.

Srixon has been very underrated the past years. They have solid irons at a great price.

I put Mizuno and Adams in the major category. Mizuno's forged irons and wedges, and Adams' hybrids are well-respected. They're also both branching into other areas and seem to be having success.

I'd watch out for Nickent. They're sponsoring a lot of Nationwide guys. When more of them graduate to the PGA we'll be seeing a lot more of Nickent on TV.

Ultimately the best lower end Mid Major brand is Snake Eyes, supply every club (even have a small clothing line) and I personally can vouch for the quality and efficiency of the irons, very good clubs, very good company.

You could also look at smaller brands such as Orka, who have come out with some lovely irons this year.

I agree with your assessment with the exception of Mizuno. They are in the hands of more elite players that I have seen, especially when equipment contracts are not involved. That should tell us something.

I would go with Bridgestone because they have always had some nice upper tier products and have been able to keep a decent tour representation.

I would have to say Srixon would be the bes mid-major. They have the world #9 on their staff so they can't be doing too bad.

I disagree with saying that MacGregor is a mid-major golf brand.

Personally, I would not call Nike a Major Golf Brand. Yes, I know Tiger uses Nike. However, his irons are not made by Nike. They are Miura handmade forged irons with the Nike Logo.

Furthermore, I have a few golfing buddies that have bought Nike Drivers and Irons and HATED them. Their R&D; and Marketing departments spend a ton of money. It helps having the best player endorse their products. That said, I still don't believe, in terms of quality and performance, that their golfing equipment can be considered "major."
