Swing Speed and Shaft

Hi, my swing speed with a 7 iron is around 80-86. I got fitted a few months ago in September for new irons. Taylor made P 790’s. Project X 5.5 (regular and stiff combined). I was wondering if my swing speed is good for my shaft or not. I had regular shafts with my old apex 2019 irons and the black ring thing on the shaft next to the club head was sliding up and away from the head. Just wondering if my swing speed is too fast for my club shaft.

My 7 iron is in the same range and I play Project X LZ 5.5, so I think you are ok. How is ball flight? The ferrule (black ring thing) sliding up is not a swing speed related issue. It is just epoxied on during assembly. They can come loose at times.

When you were fitted, did you try multiple shafts?   What did the numbers say?
