Opinions?

I've used mallet putters my entire golf career but I've been out of the game for the last few years.

I'm guessing Odyssey is still near/at the top...

Odyssey still are the best mallets in my opinion.

Alot of styles to choose from, my personal favorite is the XG Sabertooth putter or the White Steel 2 ball.

Thinking about getting one, but I just bought my Scotty and I would hate to have spent $250 for nothing.

Cant go wrong with an Odyssey putter, and I am sure alot of people on here will tell you the same thing.

I would suggest you hit a few before you choose the one thats going to be in your bag for the next few years to come.

I second the Ping nomination. I think Yes! mallets are remarkable and you can't go wrong with a Newport Detour.

I have a 36" Ping Craz-E > but i have had my Imola for 1 year now and wont go back to a mallet. in regards to mallets, i tried a LOT of others and prefered it over most

With all opinions--i agree that the new TaylorMade Spider is the mallet of the future. With the high MOI--it has found its way into Tour players bags..Remember JB Holmes--he beat Phil Mickelson with it. Credit to Taylormade--they just keep putting out new technology--This high MOI putter looks dominating

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

The best mallet (or any putter for that matter) is the one that visually looks good to you, gives you the feel you are looking for and is properly fitted for your putting stroke.

I don't know about that. I'd agree with you most of the time until I saw how well i could putt with the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth. That thing is UGLY IMO.....sorry anyone who likes it.

visually looks like a cincy bengal to me... gawd awful ugly LOL

There are a ton of great mallets out there. It really depends on your taste. Scotty's X-series are beautiful. I've got my eye on the X5. I play a Yes! mallet. It's automatic even though it sounds odd. I've essentially gotten over it since I putt way better with that crazy thing. TaylorMade, Titleist, Odyssey, SeeMore... there are a bunch out there. Plus there's a handful of boutique putter-makers (Slighter comes to mind) that create interesting designs.

If you see your backstroke waver side to side like mine does a Heavy Putter might be for you. I know I should practice more but I've got 4 kids (2-13yrs) so that's not happening. With this thing its like taking aim and pulling a trigger. I just pull it back and let gravity take over. It's ugly and the feel is terrible, but it's working for me.

Doctorfro mentioned the Zebra. I liked it, used to play with one back in the mid 90's...

Was curious about putter fitting, so I went ahead with a Ping rep last year and was hooked on the Redwood Piper S. The fitting was beneficial for sure. My putter before was the Odyssey 2-ball mallet, which I got when it was all the rage a few years back. It's all about personal preference and confidence to me.

I agree... I own the G2i Craz-e and it is butter. The alignment aid combines rounded shapes and straight lines, and it is blue (my favorite color)... generally it just fits my eye. When I looked for a new putter I always went back to trying this one in the store... the Odyssey two-ball is nice but the head seems too small for my taste, but it does align nicely.

I completely agree.

just a note... the new Taylor Made Spider and Odyssey Sabertooth both look terrible to me... way too angular. The rife two-bar makes a nice mallet too.

Just a quick update, I went to the store today and worked with a bunch of putters from a bunch of companies and my favorite putter BY FAR was the Odyssey Rossie II.

I absolutely LOVE the feel of this thing.

Has anyone used one before?

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…
