Playing the lie

Honestly, its whatever i feel like doing at the time. For serious play or HC, NEVER touch it unless permitted by the rules.

Sometimes I just want to give it my best shot under the best conditions to measure one thing or another. A fun round with the fellas where beer happens to impair any and all shots I always find myself tapping the ball out of a poor lie into an improved one.....sue me.

I just joined this forum and this thread is quite enlightening as to other golfer's views of the rules.

For me, "as it lies", unless the rules give me some form of relief.

If it will damage my clubs..I move it.

Heck I pay top dollar to play where I play...they spend a lot of time taking care of the fairways, I don't want to hurt there feelings by not using them.

Well your not allowed to in comp, which is really all i play, and in social I am just mucking around anyway.

Play the ball as it lies
Play the course as you find it
And if you cant do either do what is fair

Do you play the lie or do you put the ball on the little bit taller grass or anything to make you shot easier,not saying either way is bad but just wondering.Me I will play most lies unless it is really buried or something like that

The rules notwithstanding, you'll become a much better player if you play it down - especially the bad lies. Sweepers and pickers "tee it up" everywhere.
