Ringer teaches the correct downswing in

This ringer guy IS the man Thanks for the link, he seems like a really good teacher and he obviously knows his sh*t.

That being said I would have to say that it is very difficult to say exactly what you are doing without seeing your swing. I do know that a very common situation when players are hitting different clubs the same difference really comes down to leaving the clubface open at impact therefore increasing the loft on those respective clubs. You didn't mention your typical ball flight but when this happens it is usually a high fade that is sometimes called the popcorn fade. High soft 10-15 yd fades that don't really go anywhere. Is this happening because you are opening your hips instead of driving of them like ringer mentions? Or is this a general swing plane problem? Is it a overly weak grip or a number of other things? I'm afraid that your teacher is the best to know all of these things. That's why you pay him right? Make him work for it

I have the same problems I hit it really high and not to far.

In my first lesson the instructor gave me this drill to do get the feel of rotating the hips correctly at the finish.

Setup the same as normal then turn your front foot(left foot for rightys) 90 degrees(ish) so it is facing down the target line. Then make your normal swing. It helps me to do this drill at the driving range a few times before a round

If you're hitting your mid and long irons all the same distance than you are most likley swinging up on the ball (uppercut) and not down and through it. You're going to add loft to the club when you do that. But hitting down is not somthing you consciously do so I would recommend going to a local pro to help you sort that out. It is a fatal swing flaw and I feel that advice on a message board isnt going to point you in the right direction. (no offense to anyone, though)

You could be closing the club face on all your clubs making them the same loft?

I used to have the exact same problem when I started and I think the comment about delofting your clubs might be the problem, partially. When I first started I measured the success of my shot bases on how far it went. I gradually worked through each club trying to hit it as far as I could. The shorter irons are easier to manuever so I could swing them faster and when I delofted them I could hit them really far which at the time I thought was the most important thing. My most lofted club was a pitching wedge and I was able to swing it the fastest and with minor delofting I could hit it about 150. The problem I ran into was that all my clubs invariably went about the same distance because as the clubs got longer and heaver I couldn't swing them as fast. My friends joked that I could probably hit the putter 150 yards as well and at some point I tried it out of stupidity and shattered it into three pieces. So the best advice might be that you should find a comfortable speed that is consistant from a 4 iron to a pitching wedge a stick with it. Consistant swing speed is probably one of the most important aspects of golf.
