Was rooting around in the basement for clubs to give to a neighbor kid who has decided to pick up the game. Came across a Hogan Sure Out sand iron I got in the late 70's/ very early 80's, when we only carried a PW, usually 48 degrees or so and a sand iron, usually 56-58 degrees. Yes. it needs a grip, still wearing a Golf Pride full cord I put on it in the mid 80's. It's a bit hard.  The flange on this is very wide, and it has loads of bounce when opened up. Face is now quite rusty showing in two dime sized spots my old preferences for really soft flop shots off the toe, and sweet spot full shots. After we hit a few in the yard I remembered how darn good this old warhorse feels, and how easy it is to hit.. Decided to keep it, even game it on Wednesday after a regrip, and give the kid an SM5 instead.

I'd add a pic or two but it's too much work with this software.
