Pitch Shots Off Hardpan

I had a terrible round yesterday. I hit 71% fairways with my driver, and three of the misses were in decent shape. I had 4 pars. I only had one 3 putt. It doesn't sound like a bad round. I didn't tell you about the triple bogeys. From the title you can tell where I was missing greens. It was either there or in bunkers. Well, the bunkers were like playing off hardpan, so the same shot applies. If there is another thread for this please combine this. I can hit a pitch shot off a tight lie. I can hit a flop shot off a tight lie. I could not for the life of me hit a pitch shot from hard pan yesterday. Could someone please give instruction. That's what this part of the forum is for. How do you hit a pitch shot from hard pan. Not a chip shot. A pitch shot where I have to go OVER a bunker and land soft on the green.

Try a flop with something other than a lob wedge.  I use my 50 degree gap wedge, on occasion, when I want a lower shot out of a "flop",

The margin of error is just reduced, and your wedge sole can't be too "wide" or it's really not easy at all.

Thanks for the tip, Erik. It was a life saver. Still it's a difficult shot with little margin for error. I used a 58/8 C-grind for them today.
