Hi everyone!

I posted the swing video above because I am looking for some feedback to help me decide if I am going in the right direction. I am focusing on having a narrow stance to promote a full turn. I am also focusing on having an upright swing so that my path follows the target line. I think this should help minimize sidespin and help my ball start on my target line.

For years I have battled conflicting swing thoughts such as the following:

- Should I bring the club to the inside or straight back?
- Should I shallow my backswing or try to keep it upright?

- Should I release my hands at impact or keep the clubface stable with quiet hands?

I am trying to identify a small set of "core rules" that I can trust and work to make repeatable in my swing. There is a lot of conflicting swing information in golf literature, and I want to quiet my mind.

A great place to start to answer your questions is this thread below. The first five days cover the full swing. In addition, please review this blog post on filming your swing. https://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing

The practice challenge is really excellent. The five simple keys also do a really good job of boiling things down to the handful of things that are really universal across the best players. Feels are different for everyone so I wouldn't personally say you literally shouldn't have any hand feels. But in general around here folks tend to advocate not much or no active manipulation of the hands. As in, maybe a little active push with the rear arm hand, but def no actively rolling (which is what I usually understand as what releasing means).

Your swing in particular looks pretty good to me! One thing that jumped out to me was your hips moving towards right-center instead of center/down the line. Notice how your hip is far from the line at impact. Your hips also don't look open enough to me at impact. Personally I think it's easier to get them open enough if you don't push them towards the ball, so working on that would help both things IMO.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
