Stubborn Sticker on 1920's Wooden Golf Club Shaft

I have an old wooden shaft putter from the 1920’s with a VERY stubborn personal address label sticker on it at the very top of the wooden shaft, right below the grip. I can’t pick it off with my fingernails and my attempts are beginning to very lightly damage the wood! Any advice on how to remove it?

Use a hair dryer to warm the sticker up a bit. That will soften the adhesive and make it easier to peel off. And welcome to The Sand Trap!

As suggested above, heat is your friend. If you have a heat gun, it'll go quicker. But snagging your wife's hairdryer will do. 

On an unrelated note, this also works well for removing old grip tape.
