Putting With Extra Club in Hand

I often walk up to the green with a lofted club and my putter. I chip or pitch with the lofted club and then set that club down while I putt with both hands on the putter. In casual conversation, a fellow told me that it would be a penalty to putt with one hand while holding the lofted club in the other. I have searched the rules but do not find anything about that. I did find that I could hold an umbrella in one hand while putting with the other. Am I missing a rule that penalizes putting with one hand while holding a club in the other hand?

I recommend that you ask him to show you the rule.  He won't be able to.

      New Maxfli Forged Irons - $800!

      I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
