Morning guys, I was reading comments this morning re the Eureka swing back in 2019. Enjoyed the different viewpoints and thought I would sign up. I am 52 fwiw, play off 18 in and around Hampshire and am always looking to get better. Thought I had honed a reasonable swing recently following 6 lessons with my son's coach, but yesterday the wheels fell off spectacularly. Shanks, slices, tops, scuttlers, the works. Instead of staying calm and sticking to what I was taught, I started tweaking everything and it just got worse. An eagle on last, pitching in from 88 yards was the only high note.

I guess I am average like many others and constantly searching for the right slot for me. My putting is awful especially from 3 foot, so many things to work on.

Anyway, looking forward to partaking in conversations and getting to know you all.

Re the Eureka swing, not for me, but I am trying to utilise slightly open stance so I can extend easier through shot, I have seen videos and I look so hunched in follow through

Hello and welcome to TST. Have you seen the ‘Members Swings’ topic? There you can post videos of your swings and get some great advice. Lot of great players and instructors here. If you’re wanting regular instruction you can sign up for online lessons with Evolvr. A lot of members here use that and have excellent experiences. Cheers!

Cheers, much appreciated.

One thing re the Open stance, do you aim everything left apart from shoulders or just pull the left foot back in a square stance?

If you upload those videos to YouTube you can then copy/paste the link in the Members Swing thread and get some great advice. Before you conclude an open stance is beneficial for you, it may help to make sure there isn’t some other root cause to why you’re not ‘extending through the shot.’

The common method re open stance is to have your lead foot back a bit and swing along that foot line. But it’s all about path and club face dynamics that determine your ball flight. You can have a closed stance and still hit a fade. So it’s best to let us see your swing and start from there. 🙂

    • Day 293 6-24 Low point control work. Noticed most of my fat shots are coming when the shaft is steeper. Ill have a bunch of good swings and then have a real chunky, deep divot.
    • Day 4 (24 Jun 26) - Played the mid-week shootout - iffy day on putts as I had 35 and of late been in the upper 20's.   Greens recently verti-cut and they are a bit bump and long haired - no excuses as I need to learn to trust making the proper adjustments.   Overall a decent day with some solid long game shots.

    • Thank you.  I'll cross it off the list since it isn't going to achieve what I want.
    • While it does turn out that both Tiger and Phil are less squeaky clean than I previously believed, I don't think golf quite has the worst in professional sports.  Or maybe they're better at image management.   Obviously I'm not fond of Phil's issue we're discussing in this thread (or his involvement with LIV) or Tiger's choices of how to drive.  I used to really like Dustin Johnson and, even before the LIV situation, we started to hear rumors that he bought more snow than Seward, although I don't think those stories were ever substantiated.  Meanwhile, I did think of Anthony Kim as the "good, bad boy" of the tour for a while fifteen years ago because of his party persona -- and if it turns out the worst he did was show up hung over to play (barring what one thinks of LIV), that's pretty good.  And I'm still happy he found a way to get his life clean. If we contrast that with some other sports I enjoy, I'm sure we could find a nice long list of NFL players that, at one point in my life, I was quite fond of, we get far worse disappointments (to put it mildly).
