Have any of you out there who are trying to get to the next level of compitition ever considered this ?

Sure, I've considered it.

I've even researched it. At 59, I would love that upper body power back. I would only do it under a doctor's supervision. I would only do it if I won the lottery. That stuff is so expensive, you only hear about wealthy people using it.

wow, just go out, buy some weights and lift them

I recently bought 30lb weights, I lift them everyday, I do not push myself to the limits, I just do a few exercises until my muscles are fatugued, and then eat the right foods, thats all it takes to get some strength

do you know what the irony of this debate is- Gary Player who has accused some people who remain nameless, could be taking something apart from Viagra. He looks so fit for his age and is undoubtedly a gym freak..on CBS coverage, it was remarked that he religiously does 1200 sit ups every morning with a 2lb weight on his shoulders.

Now, if that is not obsessive at his age, i don't know what is.

mikelz, cool it is working for me!

1200 sit ups a day is unnecessary, there are better ways to get abs/core muscles

You misheard the commentators. The 1200 was right, but that was per week, not per day.

Either way, for a man of his age that is really good. Someone posted a video of Camilo Villegas earlier claiming that he looked like he was on roids. That's false. They had a show on the GC about him, one of those "follow me into my life and stuff a camera in my face all day" kind of things. He is a gym rat. He went to UF, played college athletics and worked his ass off. They said the janitors would have to kick him out of the weight room at night.

OK, the dumb bells stay and the weight bench comes out of retirement.

Am I allowed to have pecs at my age?

Some people call "hgh" the fountain of youth for a reason......

Dont let anyone else opinion dictate what you want to do.

If you want to get in shape, do it if you dont want to bother, dont

From what I know, you have to stay in the gym once you have started your cycles. Or it will all turn to mush.... But then again, I only know what I read, and chances are only 50% of it is true, who know's

HGH would not help your short game, so I dont think it would help too much in lowering your score

You may be hitting it 20-30 yards longer, which would make your approach shots that much shorter, but it would not make you make not 10 foot putts, or get up and down from the bunker

But is that not where taking the Viagra would come into play. On the Straight putts....

What if your have a slight completely natural curve???

It doesn't affect playability whatsoever...."cough" "cough"

In the post above--Camilo Villegas is not that big in person..i was right next to him at oakmont for a while-about a foot away...His arms are actually small but he has that vein that makes him look cut--but hes honestly pretty skinny and looks short...I think TV and and advertisments make him look a lot bigger.

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
