Hello, I am a newbie and thought all of you maybe able to help me.

My dad had a set of clubs back in 1970 or so where the irons had olive green shafts. I think he played MacGreger, not certain.

Any thoughts on the model would be very helpful in my quest to buy a set.

Thank you

Cheese

MacGregor made a number of clubs in the late 60s.

The shafts may have been painted; graphite wasn't good in the 60s, so… maybe check through this topic:

Pictures would be great! It’s possible the shafts may be the ‘first’ graphite shaft introduced in 1970 by Aldila. Interesting enough Shakespeare failed to get a patent on their graphite rods ( which we know from fishing rods). But IIRC the shafts had some issues with the hosel area cracking. But like Erik said, graphite shafts were pretty poor up until about 1978. It may be painted steel or Aluminium.
